Kapaun's Thomas Wells shines for FC Wichita
Former Kapaun Mt. Carmel soccer captain Thomas Wells is living up to his potential.
In his first collegiate year, he compiled three goals for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane and sits as the second-leading scorer on the team. He notched eight total points, making him the third-ranked points leader.
This summer, he knew exactly where he wanted to play for his amateur club season: his hometown of Wichita.
"I knew I wanted to come home and being able to play for FC Wichita would be nice, so I just got in contact and asked if I could show them that I could play," he said. "It's just a blessing that I get to play in front of all of those fans that probably watched me play for a while."
He's showing those hometown fans the same Thomas Wells they saw for years with the Crusaders. He's already notched four goals for FC Wichita, two in a win over Tulsa.
Wells started two of the three NPSL games so far this season, and started two of three U.S. Open Cup games for FC Wichita.
"There's so many good players on the team that it's hard to know when to start," he said. "I was coming in there and I was coming in later than everyone else and they were just giving everyone the opportunity and it is a lot of fun."
Fun is important around the club. This group has a lot of chemistry early for a team with new players like Wells.
"I think the team chemistry, and the group as a whole, is just a good group to be around."
