Grizzlies maul competition at Regional

With their season on the line the Northwest Grizzlies not only clinched a spot at state, but dominated their regional opponents in the process.

Taking the regional title, Northwest finished nearly 300 pins more than second place Garden City. Five Grizzlies finished within the top ten individual scores, including two inside the top five. Gabe Alvarez set the pace for all bowlers finishing with a 785, while teammate Lane Stanberry was not far behind with 706.

Joining Northwest and Garden City in clinching a team spot at state was Wichita Southeast with a score of 2607. Kaleb Johnson led the Buffaloes with a series total of 696, good for fourth best on the day.

Outside of the top three teams, the top six bowlers from non-qualifying teams clinched an individual spot at state. Campus (Austin Deboard,KJ Kohlhors) and West (Cameron Unruh, Nick Unruh) each saw two bowlers clinch. Wichita South's Joseph McAdoo and Hutchinson's Evan Jefferson earned the final two qualifying spots.
