Former Bishop Carroll star Blake Bell makes his first NFL return home Friday when his 49ers visit the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

Bell is a tight end for the Niners, but led the Golden Eagles as a quarterback from 2006 through 2009.

Throughout his time at Bishop Carroll, he worked closely with new head coach Dusty Trail, former quarterback coach under Alan Schuckman.

He credits Trail for his ability to adapt from quarterback and wide receiver to an NFL tight end.

"Coach Trail taught me a lot about defenses and reads and I think that helped me with my switch to tight end just by playing receiver and quarterback, you kind of see everything and how quarterbacks want to see the progression and all that," he said.

Bell played his collegiate career at Oklahoma, also as a quarterback.
