Wichita Southeast boys basketball coach resigns

WICHITA, Kan. Less than one month before the start of the season, Wichita Southeast High School Thursday evening announced the resignation of head boys basketball coach Melvin Herring.

The school did not disclose the reason for Herring's resignation.

"Wichita Southeast would like to thank Coach Herring for all of his dedication to Southeast and wish him all the bet for the future," Southeast Athletics said in a tweet shared about 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Herring led Southeast for six seasons.

The Buffaloes open their season Dec. 4 against Wichita East.
