The West Pioneers jumped out to a seven-point first-quarter lead and didn’t look back in a 49-39 win at South Friday night.
West used a big third quarter to extend its lead to 39-28.
Lajada Owens started driving the nail in the coffin early in that third quarter when she hit an open three to make it a nine-point game. Owens finished with six points on the night.
Then later on in the third, Cherrish Gails intercepted a pass and scored an old-fashioned three-point play on the breakaway. Gails led the Pioneers with 12 points.
Later on, she would get another steal and put it in on another breakaway.
In the fourth, Takia Profit had a hand in her face and she still dropped a three to really put the game away.
South’s Raisha Banks scores a game-high 13 points. Kianna Davis added 9 points for the Titans.
West’s Profit added 9 points in the win. Ten different players scored for West.
