Valley Center blanks Buhler to stay unbeaten

The Valley Center Hornets continue to pile up regular season wins, moving to 8-0 on the season following Thursday's 2-0 win on a cold night in Buhler.

The match was scoreless for much of the first half, with the Hornets two senior captians coming inches from breaking the tie. Sydney Wilson started by sending a dart that hit the crossbar. Later Emily Breault nearly snuck it in under the crossbar but Buhler keeper Jessi Ferneau was just able to get a hand on it to tip it away.

Then with under 90 seconds to play in the half, Haley Sparks came through, hitting a strike from distance in the 39th minute to give the Hornets the 1-0 advantage.

They doubled it midway through the second half, with Sophie Girtz making it two sophomores to score for the Hornets, concluding the game's scoring.

The Hornets sit 8-0, returning home to host Andover Central Tuesday. The now 6-3 Crusaders will continue their five game home-stand by welcoming Winfield their next time out.
