HAYS, Kan. Trinity won 53-37 Thursday night over TMP. TMP entered the game with just four losses on the season but fell behind 29-19 by halftime. Trinity senior Olivia Shank had much to do with that with 16 of her 22 points coming in the first two quarters.
The Lady Celtics continued to dominate in the third with the first six points on baskets from Hayley Hughes, Meg Friday, and Shank. TMP freshman Megan Hamel ended the run three minutes in.
The Lady Celtics continued to fire away. Junior Ryleigh Clifton and Shank traded treys, then Clifton swished another three to put Trinity on top 48-26 heading into the fourth.
Shank finished with 22 points to lead all players. Hughes added 11 points for the Lady Celtics, and Clifton and Friday each added six points.
Schippers scored eight of her 12 points in the second half to lead TMP. Adell Riedel scored all eight of her points in the first half, and Jillian Lowe finished with seven points.
TMP (16-4) enters the Hoisington 3A sub-state as the No. 3 seed. The girls host Hoisington on Monday. Trinity moves to 10-10 and plays at Sedgwick in round one of the Class 2A sub-state in Conway Springs.
