Southeast uses big second quarter to blow by Manhattan

After a first quarter to forget from Southeast, something clicked for the Golden Buffaloes, and they never looked back.

Manhattan held the Buffs to just 2 first quarter points, holding a 12-2 advantage through 8 minutes of play.

Then after Jackie Johnson drilled a three on their first attempt of the second, they caught fire. Quickly, the Buffs came back to tie the game at 20 apiece, taking a lead on free throws soon after. The lead grew to 8 at halftime, and Southeast never looked back.

Johnson hit 6 shots from deep, good for 18 of his game high 28, and Johnny Murdock added 16 to help Southeast to a 68-48 win in the first round of sub-state play.

The win gets the City League champs to 18-3 on the season, and sets up a matchup with Campus Friday night.

The Colts came away with a big win of their own Wednesday,a 75-46 drubbing of Dodge City to bring us to Friday's feature game. Friday's game will mark the first for Campus star Shawn Warrior against his old squad at Southeast, where he transferred from prior to this season.
