Defending 5A champion Clara Whitaker is on a roll heading to the state tournament next week. The Kapaun Crusader again knocked off Bishop Carroll's Brittany Steven in two sets, 6-1 6-0, to take first place at the Eisenhower regional. Steven upset second seeded Reagan Boleski in the semifinal in a match that went three sets.

In doubles, Arkansas City's Kelsie Burr and Jacey Arnett got some revenge on Carroll's team of Lauren Steven and Paige Stranghoner to finish at the top of that bracket. The Carroll team defeated the two Bulldogs at the Collegiate Tournament of Champions in September. Friday morning, however, it was the pair from Ark City that won in two sets, 6-1 6-3.
