Behind a three hit shutout from Clara Edwards, Clay Center won an early season battle of unbeaten 3A squads 5-0 to hand Beloit their first loss of the season.
Janae Shivers started the game with a leadoff double before Edwards brought her home two batters later with a triple to help her own cause.
Edwards would come home on an Erin Hammel single to give the Tigers an early 2-0 lead before she even took the mound.
In the bottom of the first, Edwards delivered two of her nine strikeouts, also stranding Jessica Meier on third after Meier matched Edwards with a first inning triple of her own.
Edwards would allow just two more hits over the next six innings to complete the shutout win, the offense added three more runs, and Clay Center improved to 5-0 on the season.
In game two Clay Center got the sweep, holding off a game Beloit side 9-6 to move to 6-0, with Beloit dropping to 6-2 on the year.
