Norton falls in 3A semifinals

The 2-seed Norton Bluejays fell to 6-seed Royal Valley 53-44 in the 3A semifinals Friday.

The Bluejays came out of the gate a bit sleepy, trailing 11-2 after the first quarter, and 24-6 at halftime.

The Lady Panthers built a 22-point lead with 6:11 left in the third quarter, before Norton kicked the game into third gear.

Taryn Kuhn and Hadley Hauser, who had two points each at halftime, finished with 16 and 12 respectively.

The Blue Jays improved their shooting percentage from 11 percent in the first quarter to 46.9 percent for the entire second half.

Norton finishes the year with a 21-3 record, while the 19-5 Lady Panthers improve to the 3A State Championship game.
