WICHITA, Kan. Northwest fought their way back into the game late in the 4th quarter, then got the big buckets in overtime to beat Southeast 46-44 Friday night at Northwest High School.
With about 90 seconds left in regulation, and the Grizzlies trailing by two, Isis Sanders drove to the basket and kicked it out to Taria Franklin, who tied the game up at 35.
Then as Southeast tried to bring it up to try and go back ahead, Maycee James stole it away and found Daysha Ongunbiyi on the other end for the bucket. Ongunbiyi missed the free throw, and Southeast had one more chance.
The Lady Buffs took advantage, as Sariah Sumpter got the bucket just before the buzzer to send the game to overtime.
Overtime saw the score go back and forth, but the decider came from Taria Franklin, who hit some huge shots after regulation.
