Northwest rolls past East, 75-8 Thursday

WICHITA, Kan. Northwest with a short week hosting East on Thursday night. The Grizzlies coming off a win over Bishop Carroll in their first week. The Blue Aces opening the season at Goddard where they lost steam in the second half and fell short of a win.

On the first possession of the game, Reagan Jones hands it off to Julius Bolden diving into the end-zone gives Northwest the 7-0 lead.

On East's first drive, the team tried to put some points on the board but Jake Hughes' pass was intercepted by Wetu Kalomo.

Northwest's offense took the field again and made it into the redzone after a couple plays. Jamar Martin sealed the deal and punched it through defenders to add to the scoreboard for the Grizzlies, 14-0.

The Blue Aces tried to bounce back but Kalomo was again in the right place at the right time but put some more heat on East as took the ball the other way. The home crowd was fired up after the pick 6 that put the Grizzlies up 21-0.

But East was just not able to catch a break. Hughes threw it up going deep down the field and Todric McGee came down with the ball for Northwest. That was the 3rd interception in three drives for the Blue Aces.

McGee's grab led to another scoring drive for Northwest. Jones passed the rock to Martin and running back some how fought his way across the line to put Northwest up 27 points.

Closing out the 1st quarter, Jones connected with Kaleb Coleman on the perimeter for the icing on the cake. Coleman, carrying a defender on his back, took it in for the score to make it a 34 point lead after 12 minutes.

Northwest ran away with the game and beat East 75-8 final.
