Nickerson traveled to Larned for the first game of the 2020 portion of the basketball season.
The Lady Panthers quickly took the lead in the game. They never relinquished that lead.
Nickerson used a full and half court pressure and traps to frustrate the Lady Indians.
"We had seven good practices over break and glad to finally play someone else," said Nickerson Head Coach Jon McLean.
"We like to get up and down the floor. If we are playing man, we want to be in the passing lanes. With a zone press, we are trying to force the ball into some traps and dictate the tempo of everything we do."
If there was one rough spot for the Lady Panthers, it was fouls. Ava Jones and Madison Ontjes both committed two fouls in the first half.
"We don't want them to foul," said Coach McLean. "But, if you are going to be aggressive, sometimes you get out of position. So it happens we have some girls with two or three fouls in a half."
Nickerson's Josie McLean lead all scorers with 19 points, which included three three-pointers. Ava Jones followed closely with 18 points.
Lynzi Myrick lead Larned scorers with 8 points.
Nickerson improves their record to 6 and 1. Larned keeps looking for their first win of the season with a 0-6 record.
