It took four extra minutes, but the second ranked McPherson Bullpups survived a tough road contest at number seven Andover Central Tuesday evening.
Playing without two starters, the Pups found themselves down five at halftime but came back to go up by five late in the fourth quarter. Kassidy Beam and Grace Pyle teamed up on a 10-3 run to open the final quarter and flip the score in the Bullpups favor.
But with the lead cut to one, Jaden Newfarmer drove the lane drawing a foul with less than four seconds to play, hitting one of two foul shots to send the game to overtime.
In overtime, Beam opened things with another three of her team-high 17 points and McPherson never trailed from that point on, holding off the Jaguars 54-50.
