Marion entered the Class 3A regional in Lyons with just two losses as a favorite to advance back to state after a second-place finish in 2017.

The Warriors wasted no time getting on the board against Southeast of Saline as senior Cole Srajer led off the game with a home run.

Later in the first, junior Evan Heidebrecht hustles down the line and advances to second on the error. He later scores for a quick 2-0 lead.

Meanwhile, junior Chase Stringer was straight up dealing on the mound with four shutout innings to start the game.

That nearly changed in the fifth as Southeast of Saline loaded the bases with one out. After a visit from coach, Stringer gets a generous call to strike out Trojan senior Grant Tillberg.

Then he gets senior Hunter White swinging to get out of the jam. Stringer struck out nine and allowed just one hit in five and two thirds innings. The Warriors cruise 6-0 to punch their ticket back to Manhattan.
