Maize South takes silver in state soccer title game

Maize South had only lost two games all season long as they came into this rematch from last year's final.

Squaring up against Blue Valley Southwest proved to be more of a contest than the Mavs had hoped for in the 5A state soccer championship.

The T-Wolves got out to a fast start putting pressure on the Mavricks and taking numerous shots of goal. A few of those shots found themselves squeezing past Ethan Wiens. BV Southwest was up 4-0 at one point.

Maize South didn't get on the scoreboard until the second half when Raul Gerhardus took the free kick and slipped it to the back of the T-Wolves goal.

But the Mavs could only get one goal against Blue Valley Southwest; falling 6-1. The T-Wolves pull out their third straight title.
