Despite a second half charge from Andover Central that Maize South has rarely seen this season, it was business as usual for the Mavs in improving to 17-0 on the season with a 55-44 win Tuesday.
Maize South used their stifling as always defense to hold Central to just 10 first half points, including outscoring them 13-3 in the second.
The second half was much closer, with Bailey Wilborn scoring 19 of her 21 and Brittany Harshaw adding 13 of her 19 after the break as the Jaguars tried to come back, actually outscoring the Mavericks coming out of the locker room.
But that second quarter was too much in what turned out to be a 55-44 victory. Lauren Johnson and Katie Wagner paced Maize South with 18 apiece, 16 of those for Johnson coming in the second half.
The Mavs will look to close out a perfect season with three games to go, beginning with a home contest against Ark City Friday night.
