Maize South shuts out Goddard

GODDARD, Kan. --- Maize South traveled to Goddard for our Week 7 Game of the Week trying to defend it's undefeated record.

The Lions trying to snap a four-game losing streak and bounce back after the news of losing their starting quarterback, Kyler Semrad, for the remainder of the season.

Neither the Mavericks' or Lions' offenses brought their 'A-game' Friday night.
It was more a battle of the defenses as both teams committed multiple turnovers and had trouble converting on downs to move the ball. Goddard's defense caused four interceptions and one fumble.

Maize South saw the only score of the game with a first half touchdown by Justice Morris. The turnovers continued in the second half but neither team could convert it into points on the board.

After shutting out Eisenhower-Goddard in week 6 and Goddard in week 7, Maize South is feeling good about keeping opponents off the scoreboard for two straight games.
The Mavs also held Goddard to only total 59 yards and forced three turnovers.
On offense, Maize South totaled 218 offensive yards.

In the final week of the regular season, the Mavs will face win-less North at Heights High School. The Lions close things out at Andover.
