In the first game of the day, Maize South pulled away to end the first half and never let up in a 63-44 win over two seed Garden City. The Buffaloes hit a three to cut the deficit to 4 before Maize South ended the first half on a mini run, taking a 29-17 lead to the break.

Still trailing in the second half, Garden City pulled off the play of the game. Azavier Williams bounced the in-bound of a Maize South defender, fielded it himself and hit the shot under the bucket.

But that play might have ignited the Mavs, and they kept pouring it on to get the lead back to double digits, eventually getting the 19 point win.

Their opponent is still to be determined.

Wichita Heights and Valley Center reached the third quarter of their semifinal matchup before weather caused a power outage at the high school. This forced a postponement, with the game to be completed ato 10:30am Saturday morning. Heights was on top of the Hornets 33-23 at the time of postponement
