Maize South outlasts Goddard in 5A battle

The Maize South Mavericks were able to protect their undefeated record on the road against the Goddard Lions, winning in three sets, 25-19, 18-25, 25-21.

Maize South got out to an impressive start early, a mix of savvy play around the net and digs to battle a strong attack from the Lions. Senior Erica Fava was responsible for a number of kills on the night.

Goddard played the Mavericks close the entire night. The Lions returned the favor from the first set by taking set two 25-18. Kade Hackerott was a bright spot for Goddard, leading the Lions to the third set.

Maize South improves to 23-0 and will test perfection later this week against Garden City. Goddard falls to 18-3 with a trip to Valley Center on Thursday.
