Two teams with a short, yet eventful history, meet in week 2 of the 2019 season. Andover and Maize South split the series last year, the Trojans taking the first game while the Mavericks would go on to win the latter. Maize South wins round three on the road, 14-7.

Both offenses were struggling to find a rhythm early on. Maize South was able to find success first when junior quarterback Colin Shields found Justice Morris wide open in the end zone.
While the defense was a strong point for both teams, penalties and mistakes left points on the board.
Andover quarterback Eli Fahnestock was under pressure all night from the Maverick defense. He was able to score on the ground late in the fourth quarter but an interception would go on to eliminate any chance of a late game comeback.
For Maize South, Colin Shields engineered successful drives for the Mavs that went on to end in scores, both times through the air in the first quarter.
Andover will search for the first win of the season next week at home against Eisenhower. Maize South will test perfection at home against Valley Center.
