Unbeaten Maize South hit the court of the Lady Cat Classic championship game against 11-1 Mill Valley and, despite a slow start, left no doubt on the final scoreboard.
For the first eight minutes, each team played slower possessions, leading to just 17 total points and an 11-6 score. Then to kick off the second quarter, the Mavs kicked it into overdrive.
All five starters seemingly couldn't miss, and 11-6 turned into 29-8 in a flash. Katie Wagner lead a balanced effort with 11 of her 14 coming before the teams hit the locker room.
When the teams returned to the court, it was more of the same. Maize South outscored the Jaguars 22-4 in the third and held the Jags scoreless in the final frame of the 67-17 rout.
All five starters scored in double figures, with Lexi Snodgrass leading the way in the balanced effort with a game high 16. Lauren Johnson added 11, then Zayda Perez and Macy McCormack scored 10 each.
Next up for Maize South is what might be one of the best games of the regular season with the now 12-0 Mavericks traveling to 12-0 Goddard on Tuesday night.
