Maize South's season comes to an end Friday, as the Mavs fall to Shawnee Heights 8-3 in the 5A State Semifinals.
After getting down 1-0, the Mavs tied the game in the 3rd. Kaydyn Davison put a ball in play, allowing Wichita State commit Lauren Johnson to score.
But from that point, the defending state champions took over.
The win sets up a state championship re-match with Bishop Carroll.
