Maize South comes back to beat Heights at home

WICHITA, Kan. After falling behind 24-13, Maize South put together a furious rally to take down Heights Friday night, 40-24.

Early on, the Mavs and Falcons traded blows. Hunter Niemann had a couple 1st quarter touchdowns, and Josh Sanders for Heights added a long TD run. After a field goal to open the 2nd quarter for Heights, the Mavs led 13-10.

But then Heights rallied to open the second half, scoring 14 unanswered points to go up 11.

But from that point, Maize South showed why they were ranked #3 in 5A in the preseason polls. 27 straight points for the Mavs on their way to a 1-0 start on the season.
