Maize passes Maize South, stays perfect

The Maize High Eagles were able to keep their perfect record alive Friday night, despite a strong effort from Maize South. The Eagles remain undefeated in 5A with a 65-63 win over the Mavericks.

The energy in the gym transferred from the girls match-up moments before tip, but it didn't take long for the Eagles to get the scoring going early. Seniors Brandle Easter Jr. and Caleb Grill poured in points from around the rim, with the help of guard Chase Schreiner.

The Mavericks found success down low with Kael Kordenoy. The big man poured in 22 points on the night including a plethora of dunks.

Maize would go on to outlast Maize South, despite being on the road and behind late in the second half.
