Maize Girls, Junction City boys win Maize Varsity Invitational

The Maize high girls track and field team held off Kapaun Mt. Carmel to take home first place as a team in their own Varsity Invitational Friday. The Junction City Blue Jays finished ahead of second place Maize for the first place finish on the boys side.

Maize finished just 3.5 points ahead of Kapaun to take first place, winning the final running event of the day, the 4x400 relay, to clinch first place. That was one of three first place finishes from the Eagles, also taking first in both the Pole Vault and the 800 meter race for 30 of their 84.5 points.

On the boys side, Junction City held off the host Eagles to take first place in the meet. The Blue Jays won gold in both the 300 hurdles and the 800 meter race.
