The Lady Thunderbirds entered the night looking for their first win of the season. Lyons did what they could to make that task hard.
The Lady Lions scored first but started slowly in the first quarter. Both sides committed multiple traveling calls.
Once things settled down, the Lady Lions took control of the evening. They finished the quarter with a ten point lead, 16 to 6.
The second quarter saw some separation as the Lady Lions tacked on 11 more points against four for Skyline. The halftime score was 27 to 10.
Skyline came out of the locker room and turned on the scoring. They added 13 points to their score, more than doubling their first half production. Unfortunately the Lady Thunderbirds also gave up 13 points.
In the fourth quarter, Skyline only surrendered six points while tallying another ten. Their effort could not overcome the 13 point difference at the final whistle.
Kristina Head for the Lyons Lady Lions scored the most points of any player on the evening with 20. Gracie Bricker for Skyline followed closely with 19.
Going into a game with a winless team, Lyons Head Coach Leanne Hollinger decided to not to mention the record with her team. "I didn't want them to think that this would be easy."
"We've grown a little each game," said Coach Hollinger, "tonight was the best I've seen us look for the season yet."
Lyons improves to 4 and 2 on the season. They have one more non-league opponent before Central Kansas League play starts.
Skyline continues to look for their first victory with a record of 0 and 6 so far.
