Larned boys, girls both take first at Keith Bilde Track Meet

Larned won both the boys and girls team competitions at the Keith Bilde Track Meet held in St. John.

In a seven-team field, Larned was the largest school. The other teams competing in the meet were Kinsley, LaCrosse, Macksville, Medicine Lodge, Stafford, and St. John.

In the girls' field events, Larned's Makayla Leiker won the high jump clearing five foot even. St. John's Paige Doran won the pole vault with a winning vault of eight foot and six inches. Erin Crissman of St. John won the girls' long jump with a jump of 15 feet seven and a quarter inches. Crissman also took first in the triple jump with a 31-foot 11-inch leap.

In the throwing events, Monica Clark of Larned captured first in the shot put with a 36-foot and half inch throw. Teammate Ava Mull won the discus throw with a 91-foot nine-inch throw. Dallas Jones, also from Larned, took the javelin with a 99-foot nine-inch toss.

Races on the track started with the girls 3200-meter run. Cierra Nord of Larned won in a time of 13:47.51. In the girls' 4 x 800-meter relay, Kinsley took first with a time of 11:52.43 with a team of Chantal Sexton, Tiffany Kraft, Rylie Miller, and Erynn Marquez.

Kinsley's Rylee Gleason dominated the hurdle events. She won the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 15.76 seconds. Her win in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles was more impressive at 44.71 seconds that was seven seconds ahead of second place. Larned's Cagney Lemuz edged out Stafford's Emily Green by a quarter second in the 100-meter dash. Lemuz ran the race in 13.68 seconds to Green's 13.93.

Rylee Gleason of Kinsley took the 200-meter dash with a 26.38 second time, almost two seconds faster than Stafford's Emily Green. Fellow Kinsley teammate Rylie Miller won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.64 compared to the second place time of 1:06.83 from Madison McElwain also of Kinsley. Josena Frame of Kinsley won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:43.43.

The 1600-meter race went to Darby Smith of St. John. She completed the run in 5:48.89. Larned won the 4 x 100-meter relay in a time of 54.30 seconds. Katelynn Sanger, Shaylee Nesby, Cagney Lemuz, and Halle Barker made up the winning team.

Kinsley took the girls' 4 x 400-meter relay with a winning time of 4:26.09 seconds. The winning team consisted of Madison McElwain, Rylie Miller, Josena Frame, and Rylee Gleason.

Larned won the girls' team competition with a total of 160 points. Kinsley took second place with 126 points. Hosts St. John ended the meet in third with 102 points. Macksville earned 86 points. Stafford took home 31 points, and LaCrosse recorded 22 points on the day.

In the boys' competition, Medicine Lodge's Kyson Cunningham won the high jump by clearing five feet ten inches. Larned's Kristopher Nolde took first in the pole vault with a vault of nine-foot six inches. Jacob Smith of Larned jumped 20 feet even to take first in the long jump. Teammate Brock Skelton won the triple jump on a 41-foot six and three-quarters-inch leap.

In the throwing events, LaCrosse's Kalen Thielenhaus won the shot put on a 45-foot six-inch toss. Thielenhaus also won the discus with a 123-foot four-inch throw. Teammate Hunter Morgan took first in the javelin on a 157-foot seven-inch throw.

The running events for the boys started with the 4 x 800-meter relay. St. John prevailed with a run of 8:55.50 from a team of Cashe McVey, Eddy Calleros, Mason Osborne, and Trey Fisher. Kinsley's Tyler Heyen-Gerhardt took first in both hurdle events. He finished the 110-meter high hurdles in a time of 15.77 seconds, over two seconds clear of second place. In the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, he ran a 40.70, four seconds in front of the next runner.

Brock Skelton of Larned edged out teammate Jacob Smith with a time of 11.51 to 11.76 in the boys' 100-meter dash. LaCrosse's Colby Stull won the 200-meter dash in 23.60 seconds. St. John's Trey Fisher won the 400-meter dash in a time of 51.88 seconds. Teammate Cashe McVey took the 800-meter run in a time of 2:12.74. Brayden Lothman of Larned finished first in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:02.01. Stafford's Cayden Brozek completed the 3200-meter run in 11:36.24.

The 4 x 100-meter relay went to LaCrosse's team of Hunter Morgan, Kaden Depperschmidt, Keldon Day, and Colby Stull. They completed the relay in 45.36 seconds and a 0.14-second margin over second place Larned. In the final event of the night, St. John won the 4 x 400-meter relay with a time of 3:40.30. Trey Fisher, Joel Ortiz, Mason Osborne, and Cashe McVey beat LaCrosse's team by over one second.

Larned won the boys' team competition with a total score of 141 points. LaCrosse claimed second place with 119 points. Hosting school St. John took third on 98 points for the meet. Macksville earned 71 points on the day. Kinsley took home a total of 56 points. Medicine Lodge scored 35 points while Stafford accumulated 30 points for the meet.
