Kapaun hangs tough, but Carroll prevails in the Holy War

WICHITA, Kan. It would take an upset of seemingly biblical proportions for Kapaun Mt. Carmel to get a win in the 2019 football Holy War against Bishop Carroll. Even with a couple losses, the Golden Eagles came into the night as heavy favorites, and even though the Crusaders hung tough, Carroll prevailed 23-13.

The game started with a couple big defensive plays by Kapaun's Will Doolittle, who made two big stops in the backfield on Carroll's first two offensive plays of the game. But Aiden Niedens found Max Bullinger later in the drive on a big gain to set up a field goal, and BC went up 3-0.

Later in the 1st, Skylar Hampton punched in a short TD run to cap a long Eagle drive to put Bishop Carroll up 10-0.

Kapaun would answer to make the score 10-6, before Carroll added another field goal to make it 13-6 at the half.

Each team added another touchdown in the 2nd half, and at one point it was a three point lead for Carroll, but then Bishop Carroll extended it to 23-13 late in the quarter, and that's where it stood.

Carroll will try and keep rolling against North. Kapaun looks for their 2nd win of the year against St. James.
