Kapaun girls stay alive with OT win against Northwest
Kapaun Mt. Carmel hosted Wichita Northwest girls basketball on Wednesday for sub-state semifinals.
It was a close couple-point game the entire duration with several lead changes. The Lady Crusaders beat out the Grizzlies in overtime with a 57-50 win.
After the first quarter, Kapaun trailed 5 to 10 as their only points were a three from Sophia Grimino and two free throws from Ella Anciaux.
Grimino ended the game as the leading scorer with 28 points; six 3's and perfect from the line.
Anciaux was the second leading scorer for the Crusaders with 10 points.
Kapaun was over 78 percent from the free throw line.
However, Northwest led at the half, 16-15.
Isis Sanders led the Grizzlies with 15 points and Daysha Ongunbiyi was right behind her with 14 points.
Kapaun Mt. Carmel will face top seed McPherson on Saturday.
