WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School has made a change in leadership in its football program, with Dan Adelhardt being relieved of his duties as head football coach.

KMC President Rob Knapp announced today that a search will begin immediately for a new head coach.

“We want to thank the coaches for their dedication to the Crusader football program. We also want to reassure the Kapaun Mt. Carmel community of our commitment to the legacy of KMC athletics.”

Adelhardt took over the Crusaders program in 2005, compiling an 87-64 overall record over 15 seasons. His best season at the helm came in 2013, when the Crusaders advanced to the sub-state round of the 5A State Playoffs, finishing with a 10-2 record.

Kapaun's win total dropped from 7 in 2018 to just 2 in 2019, with the Crusaders getting the lowest seed in the 5A Playoffs where Wichita Northwest ended their season.
