HOISINGTON, Kan. - The Hoisington Cardinals won the Championship of the Hoisington Winter Jam by defeating the LaCrosse Leopards by a score of 54 to 33.

The Cardinals used an uptempo pace to start the game. This allowed them to build a 21 to 5 lead by the end of the first quarter.

While the Cardinals fouled more in the first half, eight versus five team fouls, it did not give LaCrosse a chance to narrow the lead. At halftime, Hoisington lead 31 to 13.

The lead expanded farther in the second half. Hoisington never managed to reach a 30 point differential in the fourth quarter. This saved LaCrosse from playing with a running clock.

"A lot of these players watched other Cardinal squads win this tournament," said Hoisington Head Coach Kyle Haxton. "It's an exciting time to play in front of your home crowd and play solid basketball."

Drew Nicholson lead all players with 20 points on the night. Mason Haxton added 11 points.
