Beloit came out of the gate wanting to go right at Scott City's vaunted defense. The Beavers, who entered Thursday's rescheduled game a perfect 5-0, had given up one touchdown all season. That came last week against Russell. That fact didn't scare the Trojans, who won the toss and elected to receive, taking an early crack on offense.
Facing a 4th down from their own side of the field, Beloit went for a fake punt on the first possession of the game. Scott City was ready for it however, stopping the Trojans short of the first, then taking advantage of the short field to score quick.
Beloit did break through their next possession on the back of QB Grant Arasmith, who had two huge runs, the second a masterful twenty yard burst facing a 3rd and 17 for the score, the first rushing touchdown allowed by the Beavers in 2018.
From there, it was all Scott City. The Beavers scored 27 unanswered before halftime before taking a 34-12 lead, ultimately winning it 55-12.
Wyatt Hayes hit the endzone on five different occasions to lead Scott City ahead of a matchup that will likely decide the class 3A district 8 championship in week 7 against fellow unbeaten Colby. Beloit drops to 3-3 on the year and will look to bounce back against Concordia next Friday night.
