Taiden Hawkinson used a big day on the mound and at the plate to lead Buhler past Augusta and stay unbeaten on the year in a 14-0 win in game one of a double-header Thursday.
Buhler scored seven runs in both the second and fourth inning, and Hawkinson was an out away from throwing a no-hitter before Augusta's Collin Hiser drove a single to right to break it up with just an out left in the game due to the 10 run rule.
Hawkinson finished out the inning, allowing just the one hit over five innings while striking out four Orioles. At the dish, he lead the way with 3 of Buhler's 9 hits, collecting four RBIs on the day. Briggan McCurdy and Braden Sides each drove in a pair as well in the 14 run win.
In game two, Buhler pitched another shutout, this behind Bradley Neill's seven innings of four hit ball to move the Crusaders to 8-0 on the season.
