Haven uses late free throws to hold off Rose Hill in Rupp Tourney

Wyatt Carmichael lead the way with 19 points for Haven as the Wildcats held off Rose Hill 57-45 Monday night in the first round of the Adolph Rupp Tournament in Halstead.

After a low scoring first half in which the Wildcats took a 19-16 lead to the locker room, they turned it on in the third quarter, opening up a 37-23 lead on Rose Hill. The Rocket would respond with an 8-0 run of their own to close the quarter, Haven still holding a 37-31 advantage.

Haven got up by as much as 15 midway through the fourth, but again Rose Hill wouldn't back down. The Rockets cut the deficit to just 6 before Haven hit free throws to close the game out and take the 12 point win.

Haven will move on to face top seeded Andale Friday night in the semifinal round. Rose Hill moves to the consolation bracket where they will meet Garden Plain on Thursday.
