Until this game, Great Bend played five straight contests on the road.
Great Bend scored the first points of the night with a three pointer from Ray Kuhlman. Hutchinson responded with a trey of their own from Brenton Burns. The Panthers took over from that point. Alex Schremmer would score 10 of his 27 points in the first quarter. The team would also score four of their eight three-pointers in the first period also.
They led 21 to 7 at the end of the first quarter.
The Panthers added another 20 points in the second quarter. Schremmer dropped 13 points in the quarter alone. Hutchinson only managed 11 points.
The second half was more subdued as the two teams only added 35 total points, 21 for Great Bend and 14 for Hutchinson. The point difference reached 30 points in the fourth quarter and a running clock started.
"I was kinda worried about how we would play before our home fans," said Great Bend Head Coach Tim Brooks. "The guys came out and got off to a good start."
"We got a lot of guys that can shoot it. We look for people. We don't try to take contested threes. We get a lot of assists off of penetrating and kicking. The guys share the ball really well."
Alex Schremmer led all scorers with 27 points. Dalton Miller added 11 points for Great Bend.
Brenton Burns led the Salthawks with 11 points. Treyton Peterson contributed 10 points.
