Entering Friday's game, Goddard had not only beaten every team they've played. Their closest contest of the season, an 18 point road win over Valley Center.
Northwest changed that Friday night.
The game started with Goddard jumping out to an 11-2 lead, taking a 17-10 lead to the end of the quarter. Then Northwest started their comeback.
They cut the lead to 22-20 late in the 2nd, until Goddard scored 6 straight to give them a 28-20 halftime advantage. The Lions got it back to double digits after the break, but again Northwest showed zero quit and cut the lead back to 2 early in the 4th.
With a chance to tie, Kade Hackerott stole a in bound pass and took it to the bucket on the other end to swing the momentum Goddard's way, and they never looked back. The Lions hit their free throws to close the game, improving to 9-0 with a 49-37 victory.
