Eisenhower takes windy contest over rival Goddard

In the district, the two schools are chief rivals. But on the pitch Tuesday, both Goddard and Eisenhower dealt with a common opponent: mother nature.

On an otherwise beautiful day for soccer, a northerly wind never ceased, causing both sides fits for much of the 80 minutes. Eisenhower kept possession for most of the game, yet they couldn't connect for 52 minutes due to the great play of Goddard keeper Paige Stausberg.

The was when Emma Franklin delivered a corner kick to freshman Kaitlynn Irwin who's header made it a 1-0 match.

The score remained until just over a minute remained when Franklin scored an unassisted goal of her own, putting the match out of reach in the Tigers' favor.
