East High girls soccer coach suspended for postseason

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - East High School is set to kick off action in the state quarterfinals Tuesday night in Topeka, but they'll be without their head coach when they do it.

KSHSAA Assistant Executive Director David Cherry has confirmed to us that East coach Dylan Gruntzel has been suspended for the entire 2018 postseason due to now confirmed allegations he coached a player before the season began.

According to the KSHSAA handbook, a coach may not practice with an athlete during the school year, prior to or after a given season.

East enters the state tournament as the 4 seed in the Central/South Central region where they will face Washburn Rural High School.
