Derby rolls over Dodge City to stay perfect

DERBY, Kan. - For a second straight year, Derby matched up with Dodge City in the playoffs. And for a second straight year, it was all Panthers.

It took Derby all of 46 seconds to score. Hunter Igo would add two more scores before the quarter would end to put Derby up 21-0. They would go nearly a quarter before finding the endzone again, when Igo went through the air to find Tre Washington for the 38 yard score to make it 28-0 Panthers at the break.

Igo would stay on the field for one more drive, hitting Jax Benway for the 31 yard score, and that would be all she wrote. The game went to a running clock before the third quarter came to a close, and Derby rolled to a 54-7 victory.

The Panthers will get Topeka High next Friday in the Sectional Round, a team they last met in the 2015 state playoffs.
