Both the Eagles and the Panthers coming into week 8 with zero loses in 2019. Derby had won this match-up since 2014 and was riding a 20-game win streak coming into the final week of the regular season.

Both defenses looked strong at the start of the game. Maize's special teams even pinned Derby to the one-yard line on a great punt.

But the Panthers were able to quickly shut down any hope the Eagles had.
Derby's quarterback Lem Wash had a 99-yard run into the endzone to get on the board first and that deflated Maize for the rest of the game.

Having a lot of success on both sides of the ball, Derby's Cavion Walker added four touchdowns in the first half.

Going into the half, Maize trailed 42-0 but was able to score late in the third quarter for it's only touchdown of the game.

Derby took it's starters out in the second half to give young guys some reps. The Panthers still added to the scoreboard but beat the Eagles with a 55-7 final score.

Top seed Derby earned home field advantage and will play 16th seed North High School in the first round of playoffs.
Maize earned the three seed and will face Liberal.
