Crissman leads St. John over Victoria
The St. John Lady Tigers defeated the Victoria Lady Knights by a score of 47 to 23 in a Central Prairie League game.
The game started as a back and forth affair. St. John would score and take a small lead. Victoria would come right back and retake the lead.
It continued like this for much of the first quarter. By the end of the quarter, St. John had a 14 to 11 lead.
"We had some girls get into foul trouble early and we changed our defense up," said St. John Head Coach Danny Smith. That different defense, which denied the inside game, lead the Lady Tigers to hold Victoria scoreless in the second quarter.
In turn, the Lady Tigers added 18 points to their lead to make it 32 to 11 at the break.
Victoria would only score 12 points in the second half. St. John added 15 to make the final score 47 to 23.
"That's the best we've played offensively in a long time," said Coach Smith. "It was nice to see and hopefully happening at the right time of the year."
Erin Crissman of St. John lead all scorers with 14 points. Jade Portillo added 10 points.
For Victoria, Valerie Dome, Lydia Sander, and Macy Hammerschmidt all scored six points.
Victoria sees their record fall to 8 and 9.
St. John sees their record improve to 10 and 8.
