HARPER COUNTY, Kan. Coming into Friday night the Conway Springs Cardinals' offense had been lighting up the scoreboard. Over the previous three games, they outscored opponents 183-57. Friday night was no different as the Cardinals continue to make their case in 2A.

In a battle of unbeatens, Conway Springs beat Chaparral on the road, 53-23. The win moves the Cardinals to 7-0 and drops the Roadrunners to 6-1.

“I was just very proud of them, that’s what I told the kids, it was a group effort," Conway Springs Coach Matt Biehler said. "We had some kids go down (and) some kids had to step up that hadn’t been in on a lot of plays this year. And they did. They played a complete game."

With the win, Conway Springs moves into sole possession of first place in the Central Plains League. The Cardinals will look to continue their streak next week against Garden Plain. Chaparral, meanwhile, will look to get back in the win column against Hutch Trinity.
