Collegiate boys survive Caney Valley in sub-state
A battle between the 2 and 3 seeds in the 3A sub-state semifinal. Second ranked Wichita Collegiate rocking a 16-3 record coming into the game with Caney Valley.
Both teams were tied at the end of the first quarter. The Bullpups led by as many as six in the second quarter but the Spartans were able to come back and win 69-59.
Gradey Dick shot a game-high 24 points, hitting perfect from the free-throw line and two 3’s. Charlie Goree followed at second for the Spartans with 15 points; all 3’s.
On the Caney Valley side, Trey Richey had over a third of his team’s points with 21, Jace Kaminska was the second leading scorer with 13 points.
Collegiate will face top seed Cheney this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Cheney High School for the sub-state final.
