Behind a strong effort from Trey Patterson down low, Cheney improved to 9-2 on the season with a 68-48 win over Winfield Tuesday night.
Winfield kept the game within reach for the duration of the first half, leading late in the first quarter and getting it to a three point game early in the second half.
But with the score sitting at 30-27, Cheney put their foot on the gas and never looked back, igniting a 17-2 run in putting the game well out of reach for the Vikings.
Patterson lead all scorers with 21 while Ben Klinkerman added 14 points off the bench. Jordan Chism lead the way for Winfield with 15.
Cheney will face host school Halstead in the semifinals of the Adolph Rupp Tournament Friday night. Winfield will meet Minneapolis on the consolation side Thursday.
