WICHITA, Kan. The Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles entered their contest against East as the top ranked team in Class 5A handling the first few opponents of the season with hardly any trouble. Wichita East pushed the Golden Eagles into a tough battle on Friday night with Bishop Carroll prevailing 61 to 47.
This match up was filled with speed and intensity from the start. Bishop Carroll forcing the Aces to slow down in the half court after the first few possessions. Tanner Mans and Alex Littlejohn were able to pace the Golden Eagles early with points in the paint. Bishop Carroll controlled the rebounding category creating second chance points for the offense. Accompanying the success down low was a high amount of success from behind the three point line from shooters like Brenyn St. Vrain and Carter Reid.
The Blue Aces were the quicker team off the dribble and used that to their advantage as much as possible against Bishop Carroll. Fontaine Williams Jr. and Myles Read were key down the stretch in the Aces last push. Dreylin Kemp and Amos Alford, Jr. both levied the inside for the Aces along with Norman Massey.
But Carroll was too much in the end, taking it by 14 points.
