Carroll pulls away in second half for bounceback win over Heights

WICHITA, Kan. In the opener against Wichita Northwest, Bishop Carroll held a lead late before falling on a game winning field goal. This week against Heights they left no doubt.

Jackson Nichols scored three times, Cade Becker added one in the air and another on the ground, and the Golden Eagles soared to a 36-20 win to avoid another heartbreak.

The Carroll defense did their part in keeping Heights QB K'Vonte Baker in check, until he broke through for an early 30 yard score to tie the game at 7. Nichols second score of the night made it 15-7 at the break.

But Baker and company wouldn't go away. Down 22-7 in the third, he broke through again, this to the tune of a 90 yard punt return for a score. Some redemption after he fumbled a return early in the game.

But two unanswered scores to get it to 36-14 was just too much to the Falcons as they suffer their first loss of the season. Bishop Carroll also sits at 1-1.

Next week, Heights hits the road to face Dodge City, a team coming off a road win at Salina South. Bishop Carroll stays on the road as they face Wichita West.
