It was a senior day to remember for Bailie Stanley, Lauryn Johnson and the rest of the Campus Colts.
In a triangular moved away from home due to field conditions, the Colts won twice Thursday in Wichita, the second coming in walkoff fashion.
To start the day, Campus scored 11 unanswered to run-rule Northwest, ending the Grizzlies 13 game winning streak. Trailing 1-0 early, Alexis Thomas dent a double deep to left field, scoring a pair of runs to get things started for Campus. Then in the third, with a runner on Bailie Stanley unloaded on a pitch, sending it deep into the parking lot for a two-run shot to make it a 4-1 game.
Stanley would continue her big day at the plate the following inning, getting an RBI triple. Sophie Martins helped herself with an RBI double to cap a three-run inning for the Colts. Then in the 6th, Lauryn Johnson lead off the inning with a solo homer, before the Colts scored on a pair of bases loaded walks to end the game 11-1. Martins threw 6 innings, giving up just 7 hits and the one first inning run.
Then game two was much more dramatic. Eisenhower got off to a quick first inning lead on an Emma Furnish double to make it 1-0. Campus would tie it at 1 on a sac fly, then the scoring would halt until Stanley came up in the 5th, hitting her second big fly of the day to make it 3-1 Colts.
In the sixth, the Tigers jumped back ahead. Jaycie Ontiberos started things with an RBI double, then Brittany Gosch brought her home on a two run bomb in the very next at-bat to make it 4-1 Ike.
Then with Campus down to their final out, Johnson came to the plate and hit her second long ball in as many games, this one of the walkoff variety,a two-run homer to give Campus their second win of the day.
The Colts improve to 13-5 with the two wins with just a pair of games left in their season.
