Buhler upsets Circle for first trip to state since 2015

TOWANDA, Kan. - Buhler upset two seed Circle on the road 45-38 to make their first trip to state since 2015.

Circle's Kimalee Cook started the game with back to back threes, but Buhler still led by two early in the first quarter.

Buhler jumped out to a 15-5 lead after back to back threes from Alyvia Owens and Haley Miller.

Circle was able to come back to cut Buhlers lead to 3 at half, the Crusaders leading 19-16 going into the intermission.

Buhler's largest lead was extended to seven in the final seconds of the third quarter after Alyvia Owens drained a buzzer beater three.

With two minutes left in the fourth quarter, Circle trailed by 5. Lana Chase knocked down a three to cut Buhlers lead 39-37.

On Buhlers next possession Hailey Miller went to the line and sunk both free throws, and the Crusaders pulled off the 45-38 upset.

Buhler moves on to the 4a state tournament in Salina where they'll be the eight seed and play Wednesday. With the win, they're 14-8 on the season.

With the loss, Circle ended their season with a 17-4 record.
